The Little Things in Life
We live in society filled with so many technological advancements that we forget to appreciate the things that we have. There are so many things going on in our lives that we don't notice these things. Whether we are working, running errands, or just trying to relax at home we have so much that others around the world do not have. Just stop to think about it for a second, what are you using to read this blog? Probably a computer or smartphone right? Even this is something that many people do not have. Yet here in the states, almost everyone has one. We have forgotten to value these things in our lives.
I know this from experience, maybe you do too. I'll use a recent trip to Mexico as an example. Lets start off with something big like air conditioning. In the places that I went to there was no air conditioning. Let that sink in for a second. Every place you go to here in the United States there is air conditioning. Yet we don't really stop to think about that do we? Imagine living without AC, wow that is not something I could do. How about microwaves? I'm 100% percent sure that you've never thought about appreciating your microwave. It's a microwave for crying out loud, everyone has one of those. Nope, you're wrong, in Mexico where I spent some time, they did not have a microwave. Everything had to be heated up on a stove. Yet here we complain about everything and how we wish we had more. This is the wrong mentality to have. We have so much and we don't even realize it.
In that same place going out to eat fast food or even going to the movie theater is a luxury. Some people go and eat McDonald's everyday, literally. I even know people who go to the movie theater every single weekend. That is crazy, although it's not as crazy as not having water to drink, use the restroom or take a shower now is it? Imagine not having water for 3 days straight. Even water is something that we forget to realize we have. We put so little value on some of the things that we have. Learn to take a deep breathe every once in a while and take a look around you. Learn to appreciate all of the things you have in your life. Sure it is okay to have ambitions in life and want more, but you already have so much. Never forget that.
Make sure to leave any comments and constructive criticism down below. This is my first blog post. Hope it was decent. Thank you!
